Instagram’s latest November 2020 update

It is a busy month at Facebook. In India you can now make payments directly through WhatsApp.  In the meantime, Europe is busy experimenting Facebook dating a new service where you can find love through common interests events and any other info Facebook has on you. Mark Zuckerberg mentioned back in early 2019 that there were plans to merge the messaging platforms from each of the three Facebook owned social platforms: WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger into one. Well, here we are, nearly two years have passed since that statement and we are witnessing the process start. Indeed, last week, the option to connect Instagram DMs with Messenger came to life. Did you notice? More updates have gone live, check out the list below.

1. Messenger and Instagram DM’s merge

Yes, you can now send messages to your Messenger contacts from Instagram, and the other way around. However, you don’t have to allow this to happen. This is an option and you can choose to keep the platforms separated.

2. Livestreams time limit

Livestreams used to be limited to one hour. With the new enthusiasm and need for livestreams over the past few months, the limit has now been increased to four hours…and I thought I already spent too much time online…

3. Live broadcast archiving

A coming soon feature concerns live videos. The reels you shoot will be made available to you for 30 days and you will have the possibility to upload them on your IGTV or download them.

4. Links in the captions?

This one is just a rumour but a few years back a pattern from Instagram showing the option to add a link in the captions in exchange for a fee (2$ on the leaked document). I can imagine this would be something worth paying for, what do you think?
