What to Do With 72 Hours In India

Tis the season for some quick and unforgettable getaways! If you’ve got some travel time coming up, but don’t want to stray too far from home, India is a great destination choice. Flights from Dubai to Delhi will take around three hours. Arrival time to Mumbai from DXB is even shorter, coming in at around 2 hours and 40 minutes. With travel times this short, even if you only have a small window of time to vacation, you can rest assured that you won’t spend the majority of it in transit. India is a fantastic option for a 72-hour trip. If you decide to book, check out our picks for what to do with 3 days to explore this incredible destination.

Take a Train Ride

Okay, hear us out on this one. You might be thinking that you have no desire to get off of one mode of transportation and then hop directly onto another. However, India offers some truly breath-taking train rides of varying lengths and vistas. They really are a great way to cover a lot of ground relatively quickly while getting to see the sites in a stress-free environment. There’s the Jodhpur to Jaisalmer trip, which takes you across the desert from one site of old forts and cities to another. If you’re feeling adventurous, there’s an 11 hour ride that leaves from Delhi that will take you over 932 bridges through the Kangra Valley. If you long for more of a relaxing vibe, check out the train to Puri which will transport you to a delightful resort from the 20’s that overlooks the Bay of Bengal. There’s also different day rides that will take you through spice plantations, eucalyptus forests, or even to the Taj.

Chow Down At The Natraj Dining Hall

So, yah gotta eat. When it comes time to nosh, this place is well loved by the locals in Udaipu, and should totally  be on your radar. Here you will experience a traditional thali experience. When you sit down, you’ll be served a large variety of foods served on a big circular metal plate. Forget about a menu here, because you’ll be served whatever is being cooked that day. But, rest assured it will all be fresh, delicious, and delightfully local. Expect vegi dishes, fresh chapati, rice, and plenty of other good stuff to fill you up. It will also keep on coming until you politely tell them you’re about to burst at the seams.

Visit the Himalayas

The Indian Himalayas offer a lot more than just majestic mountain-scapes to marvel at. While you can definitely dedicate your time to taking in the mountain views alone, you might want to consider exploring the monastery circuit in Sikkim. There is also a variety of wildlife in the region, including birds, butterflies, snow leopards, and orchid forests.

Have  Beach Day in Goa

Beaches might not be something you initially associate with India. But this one is a true gem. Water sports of all sorts are available and the water is generally calm and good for swimming and snorkeling alike. This area also tends to be relatively uncrowded, so why not either start off your vacation right or end it with a tropical bang!
