Beat Saber Is Unstoppable!

Beat Saber is a Ton of Fun

If you’ve been reading our gaming section consistently (and if you haven’t, what’s wrong with you? – Ed), you’ll know that we like the PSVR Beat-Slashing game Beat Saber. We like it so much that we squeezed it into our Top PS Games of 2018 even after we’d already finished the list because the game only made it to the PlayStation in late November and we hadn’t had that much time on it.

Despite that, we were already super excited about it ever since we saw some of the first viral videos of some people playing the game – here’s one that’s incredibly popular!

So, seems we’re not the only ones loving it! Even before being released on PSVR, the game had become immensely popular with PC gamers, having been released on Steam a few months before it made it to Sony’s console. Beat Saber is a winner on all fronts. It’s very easy to pick up, and almost ridiculously difficult to master on higher difficulties. It’s also gaining more and more momentum across the world every day, becoming almost the killer app for VR, and persuading many to finally get a VR system at home, whether it’s made by Sony, Vive, or Occulus.

Beat Saber is Actually Good for You

Besides being a lot of fun, a lot of Beat Saber users are claiming that it’s helped them lose weight, and we can’t say we’re surprised. It may not seem like a lot of exercise when you first start out on ‘Easy’ or ‘Normal’ levels, but playing for longer than a half-hour on ‘Hard’, ‘Expert’, or the newly released ‘Expert+’ level will certainly give you a work out.

We’re not kidding!

This has become such a motivator for many players that the developers have even said they’re considering adding a calorie counter to the game so that you can see approximately how many calories you’re burning up as you play.

The Virtual Reality Institute of Health and Exercise (Yes, this is a real thing, and you can click on it to see for yourself!) studies the impact of virtual reality exercise on humans, and they have a report explaining just how much exercise you get out of Beat Saber and how many calories people of different weights burn while playing the game. You can read the report here, but here’s a spoiler – it’s basically like playing tennis and burns up more than 600 calories an hour.

And…you feel like an video-gaming-ninja-demon while you’re doing it!

Beat Saber is Getting Bigger Every Day

The game has become so popular that Beat Saber arcades are now popping up in Korea, Singapore, and Chine!

Take a look! This is in China…

And in Singapore…

We can’t say we’re surprised! We’ve been loving the game, and we can’t help but show it to everybody we run into. Have you been playing Beat Saber? If so, have you been playing it on PSVR or using Vive’s VR set or the Occulus Rift? Can you beat ANY of the tracks on Expert+? HOW!?
