Carnival Rides We Loved as Dubai Kids

Were you a ticket or a rides kid? Growing up in Dubai – it was a carnival every time we went out! Whether we were going on a family outing to Global Village and visiting the actual carnival, or simply just going to the mall with our friends – carnival games and rides were everywhere and were great fun! Do you remember what your favorite ride was? Keep reading to reminisce on that nostalgic feeling of growing up in Dubai with these memorable carnival rides.

Caterpillar Coaster

If you’ve been to a carnival almost anywhere in Dubai you’ve ridden this bad boy at least once every time you went! It wasn’t the most thrilling rollercoaster out there, but it was just too tempting to look at and not want to ride it – almost like a UAE carnival tradition. Whether you road it at the iconic Global Village or Fun City in Al Ain – you definitely recognize this one.

The Gondola

The Gondola – yet another iconic ride that you could find at absolutely any amusement park or carnival anywhere in the world. This universal ride was no stranger to carnivals in Dubai. Whether you were at a mall, Global Village, Dubai Festival City – the Gondola was definitely there and one of the most popular rides. Who else sat at the top to get that much-needed adrenaline rush?

Spin Gear

Before the revolutionary amusement part that is now known as VR Park began attracting major tourism to the Dubai Mall, it used to be Sega Republic – and if you’ve ever been there, you definitely remember Spin Gear. This iconic rollercoaster not only looped around the massive indoor theme park – but, it spun too! Who else loved this ride?

Tidal Wave

Yes – this is an iconic carnival ride, but growing up in the UAE, we definitely think the one at Adventureland in Sahara Center was the most nostalgic. Not only does the name ‘Tidal Wave’ leave – as literal as it is – become embedded in our minds, but the memories riding it does too!

Samba

Yes, we saved the most memorable for last. Did you really grow up in Dubai if you didn’t spend every Thursday night at Dubai Festival City’s outdoor carnival with your friends after school? The Samba was a must ride every outing and we all remember the fun and thrill of spinning around and falling over our friends when we stood up in the center.
