Dubai-based singer and songwriter, Shébani released her latest single on the 9^th of July and we are absolutely obsessed! From the visuals to the lyrics, and of course, the sound. We just can’t get enough of “Higher” – a song dedicated to self-love and being on your own.

Starting with the first verse, the song presents itself as an ode to understanding the strength that comes from being ‘on your own’. Feeling ‘Higher’ by the literal and physical definition of spending time with yourself, perhaps even in a broader sense that, at times, supporting yourself can be freeing, as the artist writes “watch me get higher, I’m higher, on my own, I’m on my own.”

The official artwork for my upcoming single, ‘Higher’. One of my favorite artworks ever. Not because it’s absolutely gorgeous, but because this was the beginning of an amazing friendship between @nadineelroubi and myself. Thank you so much Nadine for allowing me to use your art! This was a photo that she created of her room, and posted it more than a year ago. I was writing Higher at the time, and the minute I saw it, I had to use it as the official artwork. Where hypnotizing PBRN&B collides with dreamy neo-soul sounds, Shébani’s mystical vocals harmonize swiftly on a bed of live guitars and drums. Accompanied by a DIY and self-produced visual in which the artist created herself, further embodying the song’s ethos. ‘Higher’ promises to make the listeners “close their eyes” and “drift away”.
