Must Watch Netflix: January 2021

Hopefully this year won’t require quite so much staying at home. But, just in case we do find ourselves still needing a night in every now and again, Netflix is here to entertain. We’ve scoured the list of releases heading our way in January 2021 on the steaming service, and here’s what you’ll not want to miss.

Headspace Guide To Meditation: January 1

Let’s face it, after the stress of the last year, we could all use a little more “Zen” in our lives right now. Plus, if you’ve made any sort of New Year’s resolution to be more mindful, or to actually learn to meditate instead of just talking about it, now’s your chance. This series promises to teach you the art of mediation and how you can apply it to your life to help set yourself down the path to a happier you.

The History Of Swear Words: January 5

For starters, Nicholas Cage hosts this show. So, if that fact, coupled with the title of the series, doesn’t already make this a must-watch show, we dunno what to say. If you’ve ever wondered why you’re not supposed to say “those words”, and who decided what counts as a “swear word”, you’re about to find out. The show will even explore the “pros” of swearing on our mental health and beyond. Fun fact: did you know what you can hold your hand in a bucket of ice water for 50% longer if you swear while doing so? Even the trailer is hilarious, though, definitely not safe for work.

Lupin: January 8

Lovers of all things spy, action, and heist related will want to check out this French series. The show centers around the adventures of a fictional “gentleman thief and master of disguise” by the name of Arsene Lupin. It’s also part revenge story, with Lupin fighting to avenge his father who was framed years ago for a crime he didn’t actually commit. It looks like a smart and impressive series, though we do sort of wish they had left it in the original French and just added subtitles.

Night Stalker: The Hunt For A Serial Killer : January 13

People are fascinated by serial killers. The summer of 1985 was when Richard Ramirez, later to be dubbed “The Night Stalker” went on a killing spree in California. What made him so hard to catch was that he had no specific type of victim, anyone and everyone was a potential victim. Eventually Ramirez was caught, but not before leaving a lot of damage in his wake. If you’re looking for some chills, and to be seriously creeped out, you’ll want to check out this 4 episode show mid-month.
