Disney+ Movies To Help Cure Boredom

It’s probably safe to say that we could all use a light-heated distraction right now. Given the amount of time we’ve been spending at home, you might even feel like you’re running out of internet to peruse. Is it really possible to devour the entire Netflix library? Some of us are alarmingly close. Do we get a prize? Maybe it’s time to switch gears and get in touch with your inner child. A lot of what is on Disney+ is totally comforting. It’s like getting a hug from younger you, reminding you of simpler times. If you’re looking to put a hold on reality for awhile, and cure some boredom, here’s our Disney+ picks to get the job done.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

You may not be aware, but May 4th every year is also known as Star Wars Day. Why? Well, even if you’re not entirely into the franchise that takes place in a galaxy far far away, you’re likely familiar with one of the series’s iconic sayings: May the Force be with you. Get it? May the 4th? Anyway, this film closes out the latest trilogy line, which primarily follows our first female Jedi. It debuted on Disney+ on, you guessed it, May 4th. If you’re curious, but haven’t seen the other two films yet, they’re available to stream too.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

Regardless of if you can ever forgive Angie for stealing away Brad Pitt, you have to admit the lady is talented. She plays one of Disney’s most iconic villains of all time with depth. The first movie was a fun watch, and the second is also worth a viewing. It sheds more light on the title character, and the movie is a visual wonder.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

If you’ve never seen this absolutely amazing movie, go ahead and mark your calendars now for May 22nd. The movie is based on a Roald Dahl classic book, you know, the guy who wrote Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Wes Anderson uses stop-motion animation to bring the story to life and the results are incredible. It’s funny, it’s fun, and adult you will totally appreciate the humor.

Muppets Most Wanted

Try to watch a Muppets movie and not smile. We dare you! It simply can’t be done. Disney+ actually has a few Muppet movies you can binge, but this is kind of required viewing. It’s the film that is responsible for providing the fodder for the “Dark Kermit” meme. Legendary.

The Brave Little Toaster

Before Disney and Pixar brought toys to life, there was this little under-rated Disney film. It follows sentient household items as they try to reunite with the family that left them behind after a move. Alright, we know it sounds weird, but it’s totally endearing. There’s also a surprising emotional depth to the flick. You could always watch The Little Mermaid for the millionth time, but why not try something new?
