There’s nothing like a book with a good plot twist. You think you have things pretty well figured out and then, WHAM! Something comes along and turns the whole story on its head and you’re left wondering what the heck just happened. This book definitely qualifies as one that will leave you reeling. The book essentially centers around two main characters: Alicia Berenson and Theo Faber. Alicia is a brilliant artist who has managed to gain fame, but also finds herself in an institution after she is found guilty for the murder of her spouse. Most everyone thinks she did it, and her refusal to say a single word since the incident only proves her guilt to many. Theo Faber is a forensic psychotherapist who thinks there may be more to the case than meets the eye and is anxious to work with Alicia. This book is a really quick and easy read, and you’ll be hooked as you too try to solve the mystery.

You might be familiar with author Gillian Flynn for her other twisty turny masterpiece, Gone Girl. But Sharp Objects was actually her debut novel, and it’s reaaaally good. The story here centers around Camille Preaker, a journalist for a small town newspaper who isn’t exactly thrilled with her job. She has her own demons to deal with from a rough childhood, and has had problems with self-harm. Soon she gets an assignment to return to her hometown and do a report on a local story where one girl is missing, and another has been murdered. What follows is quite the roller-coaster ride that will definitely leave you reeling long after you close the cover.

This one got people talking, and left a ton of readers with their minds reeling upon finishing. The book is a thriller and many have likened it to an incredible mind-game with the reader, a puzzle that you can’t quite figure out. The twists and turns prevail throughout, but it all comes together in the final chapter, and ohh, is it a doozy. The book centers around a single mom named Louise who is stuck in a crazy love triangle. But the question is, who is manipulating whom? This one will leave you guessing right up to the end.
