We know when the bank account is looking a little grim, the natural instinct is to lay low until those funds replenish. But, let us tempt you out of the house and out into the world to live it up. If you’ve yet to head out and see the man made lake shaped as two interlocking hearts, there’s no better time than the present. You’ll find it out in the desert, near Al Quadra lakes area. The lake is so large, it can be seen from space. While the spot is popular with couples for obvious reasons, you don’t have to be attached to enjoy this beautiful lake. There’s plenty of bird watching, bbq and camping opportunities, and many great photo ops. Of note, however, is that there are no bathroom facilities here. There’s also no lighting. So, if you plan a sunset trip, and wish to stay after dark, take a flashlight. If you still have some time to burn, consider heading over to further explore Al Quadra. Afterall, it’s free!

Okay, so this one might take a bit of personal restraint and some serious willpower to keep it a “free” activity. Looking doesn’t cost a thing, right? But, we couldn’t resist putting it on the list. It’s such a vibrant part of the city. Meena Bazaar can also be a fun place to just get “lost” for a little while. Spend some time popping in and out of shops. Follow your nose and let the scent of those Indian and South Asian spices intoxicate you. Let your eyes travel along the riot of colors of the textiles for sale. You could always consider the free trip a scouting mission. Then, when payday hits, return to snatch up all your previous fabulous finds!
If you’re looking for some serious relaxation to add to your free fun, then you’ll want to head to La Mer. This place is pretty much the perfect destination for fun on the cheap. There are, of course, the beaches, which are a huge draw all on their own. There’s plenty of shopping, which you can indulge in or not. You’ll also find some pretty tasty eats. But, one of the highlights of La Mer has to be, without a doubt, all the art. Much of it is graffiti-inspired and you’ll find many surfaces emblazoned with colorful and decorative pieces. It is essentially an Insta gal’s dream. You can also just take some time to people watch, or bring along a book and read by the beach. Any way you go about it, this is a perfect spot for free fun.
