Must Have Video Games For The Holidays

The holidays are a joyous time of year that usually come with the added bonus of a little time off. So, what should you do with all this time on your hands? Why, get in some serious gaming sessions, of course! We’ve put together a list of video games that will totally keep you entertained during this festive time of year, and beyond.

Yoshi’s Crafted World (Nintendo Switch)

If you like your video games light-hearted, and decidedly on the cute side, look no further than this little gem. This is a great pick if you plan to spend some time with a few younger members of the family this holiday season. But, you don’t have to be surrounded by little ones to totally enjoy this title. This platform style game is vibrant, imaginative, and a ton of fun. There’s even a two player mode available, so you can make this one a real family affair. The game play is also very straight forward, making it a game that can be enjoyed by even the most novice of gamers.

Kingdom Hearts III (PS4, Xbox One)

Any lover of Disney should definitely be checking out this game, if they haven’t already. Indulge your inner child, and soak up all the nostalgia, this holiday season with this title. We love KH3 for a holiday gaming session, since it can appeal to players of all ages. Lovers of the franchise had to wait 10 long years for the third game in this series to be released. Was it worth the wait? We think so. Along with returning favorite characters, you’ll also get the opportunity to step into some all new worlds based on Disney and Pixar movies. Fight alongside the likes of Buzz and Woody, Elsa and Olaf, and everyone’s favorite monsters Mike and Sully, to name a few. As far as video games go, it’s hard to treat your inner child to better.

Devil May Cry 5 (PS4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows)

If you prefer your video games a little more on the adult side, you might want to check this title out. The Devil May Cry franchise has been around for awhile now. The very first game in the series debuted back in 2001. That’s nearly 20 years ago people! At the time, the graphics and game play made it an easy stand out. This newest game in the series is a lot of fun, and combines familiar characters from earlier games with new faces and mechanics. In this title, you’ll play as three different characters. One of those three is Dante, the “man” who started it all. Here, you’ll be working to save the human world from a demon king. It may not scream holidays in the conventional sense, but what’s more noble than saving humanity from the powers of darkness?

Need For Speed: Heat (PS4, Xbox One, Windows)

This title is actually the 24th in the Need For Speed franchise. It debuted back in November, and it is a ton of fun. If your holiday season means plenty of company, there’s few ways to get a good friendly rivalry going than to challenge someone to a racing game. You don’t have to be a total car nut to enjoy racing video games, either. But, this game does feature a whopping 127 different kinds of cars, from 33 manufacturers. So, if you do have a “gear head” in your circle, they are sure to geek out a little bit over at least a few of these cars. There are plenty of upgrades to unlock, and fun tracks to discover. With all the unlockables, this game is like the gift that keeps on giving.
