Get the look: Western Chic

For the longest time “Western, Navajo and Cowboy” clothing and accessories were referred to as tacky, outdated and as the ultimate Halloween costumes.

Fast forward to today and you will see that the most significant trends are Cowboy boots, Cowboy hats, Native-American tribal poncho jackets, big buckled belts, silver, and turquoises jewelry… All the items you need to transform your look into Western Chic.

Dior brings back western chic

Western Chic had a  revival thanks to Christian Dior Resort 18 collection that saw Dior’s artistic director, Maria Grazia Chiuri present the perfect Western Hats; a flat-brim hat, often tied below the chin or adorned with turquoise beads.

The collection was filled with black leather western boots,  double-faced cashmere coats with tribal painting, bead-embroidered denim pieces and of course several ethereal prairie dresses with Western belts.

Other brands that are associated with this trend would be Alanui, the clothing line of siblings Nicolo and Carlota Oddi and of course the famous Jessie Western shop on Portobello road.

Alanui is instantly recognizable for its poncho-like oversized Italian cashmere cardigans in patterns that pay homage to Native American designs. The brand has quickly become a statement piece for Western Chic attitude.

Jessie Western used to be a curiosity store, but right now it is the hottest place to get your Western and Native American pieces. From boots to ethical silver and turquoise jewelry the store only buys from Native American Indian artists and promotes a sustainable approach to this fad, making sure you will end up with high-quality pieces that will last you a lifetime.

Get the Look

Get the look by choosing 2 to 3 Western pieces and mixing them up with your regular wardrobe.

We love a good tidy t-shirt with a Cowboy hat, a feminine wrap dress with Cowboy boots, a lovely tribal poncho with regular jeans to run errands and even a good old western belt over a blazer.
