Ditch it or Dig it? Dad Sneakers

As most of you may know I have a soft spot for sneakers. I definitely love a good sporty athleisure look – you will always undoubtedly find me in a pair of Lululemon leggings, a slogan hoodie and a fresh pair of kicks. However, my sneaker style is more on the sporty / performance side (because I absolutely consider myself an athlete – not) but I just really love this look. It’s comfortable, effortless and is said to be quite fashionable.

Now although I have this love for sneakers – there is this trend that has been out on the scene ever since its first debut on the runways back in F/W ’17 – that I just don’t really dig, The Dad Sneaker. With the likes of Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton, Prada and Dior debuting these retro 90’s style sneakers late last year, it has taken 2018 by storm. From the runway, straight to our insta feeds, these dad sneakers have been sported by ALL major celebs, models and insta-stars. From Hayley Baldwin, Bella Hadid, Kendal Jenner, and the rest of the Hollywood super cool clan, to some of our local superstars —————- – these Dad sneakers have very questionably made it.

Back in the 90’s these chunky, and very orthopaedic looking shoes were what Dad used to wear to his tennis matches with 3mou Momo – fast forward a few years and now its the new must-have accessory for all fashion freaks out there. If you ask me, this is a trend that I really just don’t dig. It undoubtably does look great on some – especially when your a 6foot super slim celeb – however for myself these chunky shoes don’t do too much. With that being said, there are some lighter interpretations of the Dad Shoe Trend that I do quite like, chunky yet much less intense. Check out some of these that I do really dig from one of my fave places to shop online, Farfetch:
