Here To Stay? The Biker Shorts Trend

Made iconic by Princess Diana in the ’90s, the classic sport-come-streetwear fad can now be seen on everyone from the Kardashians to the Hadids but is by no means just a style reserved for celebrities. Biker shorts have no doubt been spamming your Instagram feed on the profiles of countless style bloggers and trendsetters, starting in 2018 and they’re still going strong this year.

A cool girl summer staple and a tomboy alternative for girlish skirts and sundresses, biker shorts are versatile and can be worn with everything from statement sneaks to high heels depending on the impact you’re going for. Seen paired with graphic tee’s and your go-to blazer or oversized shirts and longer blouses, the trend is adaptable to fit any fashion girl’s closet.

Yeezy sets the scene

Making a comeback as Kim Kardashian debuted the look following the Yeezy Season 6 collection last year, this trend later trickled down onto the runway of many major SS’18 shows with the likes of Dolce & Gabbana, Off-White, Dion Lee, Alexander Wang, and Saint Laurent.

It’s a high-end thing

They very quickly became a clothing item fit for any style, from the runway to street to casual and even in combination with luxury. The piece has also stood the test of time (relatively), we started seeing it from last summer and it looks like it’s here to stay for SS19.

Where can you buy it? Well, everywhere!

This retro revived craze can now be copped and shopped for a heavy price tag from your favorites such as MISBHV, Heron Preston, KITH and I AM GIA, or bought on a budget from your oh so reliable high street faves Forever 21, H&M and Topshop.

With the rise of the athleisure way as everyday attire and the continuous use of the catchphrase “comfort is key”, we present to you: biker shorts. So, we wanna know – do you want to see biker shorts stay, or is it time for them to go?
