Handbag Trends from Local Designers

‘Out with the old and in with the new’ is definitely a saying we can use when it comes to referencing handbag trends. With every season comes a new shape, size, fabric and form for handbags. We’ve selected 4 of our top trending handbag styles for the season, but what makes our IT list so special is it’s roster of local designers.

The Oversized Chain Strap

With L’Afshar by Lilian Afshar already being a huge successor on our hit list, she’s come back this season with another must have piece of arm candy we are all wanting: The oversized chain strap. Created as an add on to already existing best sellers like the Grace and Ida, L’Afshar has come out with a series of straps to upgrade our handbags, transforming them to being in trend.

The Half-Moon Bag

For our fashion girls that have a bit more of a minimal style esthetic, the round bag would have definitely made it to your hit list for the season. Mostly seen in a monochrome soft leather with a variety of wearable options, from cross body’s to top handles, regional talent Azra creates her rendition of this trend with the half moon, Luna bag. Inspired by the Tabla, an Emirati traditional gold pendant and made of camel leather and suede, the Luna can be worn as a clutch or cross body.

The Bucket Bag

Nathalie Trad is a talent that never fails to impress us with her innovative designs and creativity. With every collection perfectly crafted and telling a story, Nathalie Trad’s designs have made it into the hands of international stars. While staying on trend isn’t at the top of her priority list, Nathalie creates timeless pieces that just happen to fall into our must have’s category, topping our list this season with the “Golding”, her version of the bucket bag.

The Artisanal Bag

Known for her fun and never so serious take on fashion, Aya Tabari owes us season after season with her artistic embroider fashion line Mochi, handcrafted by local artisanal’s from around the world. Playing with colors, fabrics, textured and prints, she perfectly puts together a collection of light and feminine pieces that make up every girls dream summer wardrobe. For those who are in the known, embroidered and artisanal accessories are at the top of the fashion hit list, which makes Mochi’s Resort’19 Shell Bag an absolute must have for the season.
