Our Icons: Barbara Martelo

“What would Barbara Martelo wear” or “WWBMW” is a phrase I tell myself every morning while starring at my overcrowded closets.

l who first started as a lawyer at Inditex (the world’s largest fashion retailers with Zara, Mango etc…) then moved to be the greatest Vogue Spain fashion editor (in my not so humble opinion) is now a freelance fashion consultant and I am genuinely thinking of asking her to style me every morning.

Her style isn’t forced, it is based on strong laid-back essential pieces from couture designers; think leather pants or denim jackets mixed with unique couture pieces; a little bit of Rock’N’Roll with a lot of chic; an effortless style with a confident attitude and always the best shoes.

Barbara relies on core colors: black, blue, red, grey and white and to be honest you can’t go wrong with classic hues especially when you mix them and have the body of a model. (She works out with Tracy Anderson EVERY DAY)

Martelo invests in pieces from Alaïa, Christophe Decarnin for Balmain, Givenchy, Chanel and of course, Anthony Vaccarello, however, it’s her flawless mixing of these high-end pieces that make her our style crush.

Have a look at her most iconic moments of mixing minimalist attitude with maximalist pieces.
