Homegrown // HINDAMME

For those of you that don’t know Hindamme, The Modern East is about to teach you a thing or two about one of our regional faves!  Launched in 2016 by founder and designer Moe Khoja, Hindamme is heavily inspired by the brand’s embodying concept of East meets West.

“I feel I have somewhat of a role as a designer from the region to honestly express my identity and experiences through my design aesthetic,” explains Moe.

Hindamme fuses traditional elements in the play of print and colour, while still staying modern through its easily wearable and versatile silhouettes. When looking at his most recent collection, SEASON III, we see a huge influence of astrology. The inspiration takes us back to the Arab Golden Age, studying astronomy, mysticism and the work of magical poets. Hindamme SEASON III’s gold embroidered zodiac pieces is heavily inspired by Schiaparelli’s Zodiac collection first seen in 1938. Elements of the Azilal tribal patterns are also deconstructed and incorporated into his designs resembling the solar system. The result of this collection, he describes “is an edgy and cosmic blend of East meets West”.

For those of you who are looking for something a little different to stand out in, we strongly suggest a statement piece from Hindamme in everyone’s wardrobe! We can never go wrong with a badass bomber or graphic tee. In SEASON III, Khoja also incorporates a lot more versatility in his women’s wear collection by adding staples such an asymmetrical lace and sequin skirt with zippers, an oversize lace and sequin top and a black metallic cut out top and skirt.

Scrolling through the brand’s Instagram feed we can see the brand is copped and rocked by some of our favorite faces such as @thehala, @lana_jpg., @fozaza, @madambluee, @talasamman and @ascia to name a few! We can’t wait to see what Hindamme has up next…
