Rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious, cheesecake has been a popular dessert for centuries. The first concrete mention of cheesecake came in the form of a book written on the art of making them by Greek physician Aegimus, dating all the way back to the 5th century BCE! However, the more modern versions that we are familiar with today, are argued to be an English invention from around the 1300’s. It wasn’t until 1872 that the cream cheese version of cheesecake came to be when cream cheese was accidentally invented by an American trying to recreate the creamy softness of Neufchatel. Through all its variations and evolutions over the centuries, we’re just happy that it exists in our day and age! Next time you’ve got a craving, try recreating these drool-worthy recipes at home.
There’s nothing wrong with simplicity. This recipe gets it right, I’ve made it several times and it is always a big hit! Smooth and sumptuous, every bite is delectably heavenly. This style features a graham cracker (or digestives) crust and a strawberry sauce to top. It is easy to follow and requires no fancy tricks or gadgetry to complete. A few tips for the first time baker: Adding a little lemon zest to your mix really perks it up, make sure you really and I mean really line your pan, any water getting in is going to give you a soggy crust (and just..ew). Don’t love strawberry? Any fresh fruit or even a bit of whipped cream or chocolate sauce on top is a perfect finisher.

Oreo’s fan? Well then we’ve got your recipe right here! There’s Oreo’s in the crust, and even more inside the cheesecake itself, making for one sublime dessert for any cookies-n-cream addict. These little cheesecakes use a muffin tin and cupcake liners to bake in and are perfect for a single serve dessert, not to mention they’re portable! If the idea of baking a larger cake makes you nervous, this is a good recipe to start with as you don’t have to worry about giving it a water-bath during cooking.

In case you’re in a tropical mood, we’ve covered that too. Sweet, crunchy coconut, tart crushed pineapple, and a simple shortbread crust makes these cheesecake bars a dreamy nod to the islands. This is another really great and simple recipe, though I like to finish mine with a sprinkle of toasted slivered almonds for even a bit more crunch factor.

Yeah, this one is worth every single sinful calorie. It foregoes the more traditional crusts and uses brownie as the base layer instead. The filling is not only laced with chopped peanut butter cups, but flavored with peanut butter too. Top it all with a decadent chocolate ganache and even more pb cups and you’ve got one incredible (and pretty) dessert to serve to guests you must really like to want to share.
