90’s Slang You Probably Forgot About

Anyone else wish they could build a time machine and escape back to the 90’s right about now? While we might not miss every little thing about the 90’s, it was a pretty good time to be alive. But what about that 90’s vernacular? There was some seriously “fly” slang that came out of that decade. Some of it you probably even forgot about, or wish you did. Check out our list and see how many of these words and terms you might have forgotten, and how many you might still use to this day.

All That And A Bag Of Chips

At one point during the 90’s, this was one of the highest forms of compliment that could be given. At least, in slang terms. If a guy or gal had it “goin’ on”, this phrase would be used to describe them. Though the term could also be applied to non-living things as well. For example, going to a water park on a sweltering day might not just be fun, but, all that and a bag of chips.

Talk To The Hand

This delightful bit of 90’s slang was nothing if not instructional. But, it was also incomplete if you didn’t produce your hand in front of the person to converse with. It was basically a way to tell a person to shush, or that you’ve heard enough. Sometimes this was also followed by “because the rest don’t give a damn!”. Soul-crushing.

Take A Chill Pill

If you needed to calm someone down in the 90’s, you’d tell them to take a chill pill. This was also excellent to use on really impatient people. Upset about how long it’s taking for your dial up modem to connect? Yo, take a chill pill.

Word

Hear someone drop some total truth bombs that you totally agree with and can relate to? There was no better way to show your understanding and even support than by simply saying, “word”. For example: “Oh man, that physics test was really hard!”

“Word.”

Da Bomb

It’s hard to imagine many things that could be less fun than a bomb. And yet, for some reason, in the 90’s, saying something was “da bomb” meant that something was really amazing and wonderful. Maybe it was more a commentary on the heavy impact that someone or something could make.

Booyah!

Sometimes, something is so incredible, that no actual word in existence can adequately convey its splendor. Booyah was typically used when your emotions could not be contained, and so you were forced to spout jibberish. BOOYAH! See also: “Looky What I Just Did” or “I Told Yah So!”.
