Reasons to Advertise on Pinterest

Should you? Should you not? Is it just for the US market? Many questions a lot of small company owners and their media agencies ask themselves. I personally love Pinterest and the more I share this with other friends, the more I realize that Pinterest is a lot of women’s secretly favorite social network. Obviously, this is not a big enough reason to start spending your money on advertising, but I researched what are the advertising opportunities on the platform and here is what I found as top reasons to give it a go.

1. A sponsored post is very discreet

It is not like on Instagram where you can differentiate very clearly what is an ad and what isn’t. The current mention “sponsored” on Pinterest posts are very discreet.

2. Competition isn’t as high as on other platforms

So many times, brands go after the same target audiences. This ends up in buying media at a much higher cost since most of the ads are bought in an auction model. Pinterest is still relatively less competitive in that regard which could give you the upper hand when it comes to reaching your key target audience at a smaller cost. I would add to this, that Pinterest advertisers are mainly fashion, lifestyle and beauty brands. This means that your ad won’t show up right after a junk food post or a dodgy spammy looking ad on how to make money in one hour.

3. The Pinterest Academy

Pinterest has built a platform call the Pinterest Academy to take anybody through the full Pinterest advertising process. From strategy, to planning, buying, targeting and eventually to creative, you will find great resources to help you create very effective campaigns.
