Do you ever just wake up and wonder, ‘how did I get into that position’? Well, that simply might just be the way your body is most relaxed when you are sleeping – or, there could be a deeper meaning behind it! Follow us through this list of explanations of all of your different sleeping positions from the most basic, to those that become sleep contortionists. Which one are you?

The Sleepy Soldier

A person that sleeps in the sleepy soldier sleep position sleeps on their back, with their arms straight down at their side — like they are standing at attention. These sleepers definitely live up to their position’s name and are quite alert and attentive. They tend to be quite light sleepers too – so, if you’re sneaking around your house at night and your parents or siblings are sleeping soldiers, make sure to walk on your tiptoes!

The Dreamer (Yearner)

Sleeping in ‘The Dreamer’ position is when you are sleeping on your side, but your arms are slightly stretched out in front of you or placed under your head. It is said that people who sleep like this are naturally inviting and open. Although, they can be skeptical of new acquaintances. It is also said, that they are slow and deliberate when it comes to decision making, but once their minds are set, nothing can change it.

The Starfish

This is actually the most unpopular sleeping position there is! These sleepers lie on their backs with legs stretched out, their arms stretched up beyond their head, looking like a starfish on land. People who sleep like this may have an unconventional style but are very loyal friends and make relationships a great priority. They love to be supportive, acting as a sounding board for their friends’ problems, and will go out of their way to help.

Does this mean waking up in the middle of the night crying out for food? Oh – never mind, must have just been a bad dream. The baby sleeper sleeps in a fetal position with their legs curled up towards their chest and a hand behind their head. But what does this mean? Simply, if you use the baby position while you sleep, you may have a tough exterior that hides a shy and sensitive nature.

The ‘Every Girl Sleeps like That’ Position

You know exactly what we’re talking about! That one leg bent, sleeping on your tummy, while hugging a pillow position. For some reason, a majority of women actually prefer this sleeping position over others for its comfort! But what else does it mean? Besides having playful, and downright fun personalities, these sleepers are usually to-the-point with what they want, but sometimes this comes off as impatient. Though they may seem free spirited, but these sleepers can be secretly anxious and crave control of a situation – hence hugging onto their pillows.
