Another sequel to hit the screen this 2019 – The Lego Movie 2 – The Second Part is set to launch soon this February. In this new movie we get a hint of science fiction as the citizens of Lego Land are threatened by LEGO DUPLO invaders from outer space.
Last year DC beat Marvel to the punch by delivering Wonder Woman. Superhero movies with a female lead are still a rare animal, but Marvel’s Captain Marvel should help remedy that! Taking place in the 80’s, it should be self-contained plot-wise. It’s also a chance to introduce viewers to Captain Marvel before we see her in Avengers Endgame.
Starring Eva Green, Alan Arkin, Colin Farrell and Danny DeVito, Disney is bringing back the endearing story of Dumbo. The cute little elephant with ears big enough to fly first stole the hearts of the public in 1941 and we are so excited to see the tale brought to life by Tim Burton. I mean, just look at how adorable the elephant is in the trailer!
This is totally 2019’s 800 pound gorilla. The mother of all superhero movies, and the cosmic conclusion to the epic Infinity War. Did Dr. Strange have a plan? Are they going to reverse time? Are they going to resurrect everybody? Will we finally see Adam Warlock? Where is Adam Warlock!?
As much as we’re looking forward to seeing Aladdin brought to life this year, the highlight of it all has to be the actor playing Aladdin. Drum roll please…. It’s Mena Massoud! Aladdin is officially an Egyptian. We love that Disney picked an actor from the region instead of someone who isn’t representative of the character. Oh and did we mention Will Smith is playing Genie? We can’t wait!
One of the greatest X-Men comic book arcs finally gets its own movie. Written by Chris Claremont and beautifully illustrated by John Byrne, the Dark Phoenix saga was crazy! Jean Grey goes dark Phoenix and eats a star, literally murdering billions of sentient life forms. “You’re always sorry, Charles” says Magneto in the Trailer, “and there’s always a speech.”
Toy Story – the OG of animated movies, first launched in 1995 by Pixar where we first met the all-too-familiar Andy, Woody and Buzz Lightyear. 24 years later, Toy Story 4 is scheduled to be released in June, and we cannot wait! In this new chapter of the Toy Story saga we meet new character Forky and the gang head out on a road trip.
Apparently taking place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, the very existence of early publicity for Spider-Man: Far from Home is a spoiler! They may call it Far from Home but I’ll always think of it as an American Web-Swinger in London. Seriously, Tom Holland makes for a youthful and joyous Peter and we can’t wait to see just how much ham Jake Gyllenhaal can squeeze out of playing a villain who wears a fishbowl on his head.
There is no doubt that if you have kids (or know any kids!) – you’ve come across Frozen. Probably one of the biggest hits since the old Disney classics, Frozen has become a household name since its release in 2013. In this sequel Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf trek into the forest on a new adventure to uncover the truth about an ancient mystery.
