Get the Look: Throwin Shade

Looking around, it’s no doubt we can see there’s nothing like a pair of stunna shades. Whether you want to cover that face up and still look fab, leave the house with a no makeup but still look hella cool, throw side eye under your massive frames or simply just hide away from our strong sun, this season, we’ve got you covered. (literally!)

Like never before we’re seeing classic frames remixed to fit into our ever-evolving fashion scene. The Modern East has sourced out a few of our favourite shapes and allowed you to make your pick – ball or budget we’ve got you covered.

1) The Cat Eye

What’s usually seen as retro-inspired, or giving your frame that extra lift, we’re not too sure this season’s cat eye will make your purr. Reinvented with a straighter brim, this style has elongated the cat eye frames drawing focus to your cheekbones. No longer the girly girl’s go-to safe style, check out our finds.

‘The Last Lolitta’ was an instant cult hit. A collab between our French fave Le Specs and designer Adam Selman this would be our option for our less daring girl, the perfect mix of futuristic and old Hollywood glam.

Priding itself on top quality and it’s celeb following, Andy Wolf’s Florence sunglasses put you on top of the trend with their subtly mirrored lenses and structured frame. Spotted on Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner, we’re wanting these.

From every top model to singer, celebrity, it goes without saying Roberi and Fraud has taken over the spec scene. Although it might look a little intimidating, this matrix-style sunnie flatters almost every shape. Color frames made with matching tinted lenses is a favorite of Sofia Richie and the Bella sisters to name a few.

Debuted in Milan, plastered all over our favorite fashion mags and billboards, Prada’s cat eye, two-tone sunglasses are our advised investment piece for the season. Made in Italy and stamped with the label’s logo, this angular shape will defiantly raise a few brows.

2) The Thin Shades

What used to be the bigger, the better, definitely ain’t the case anymore when it comes to shades. The thinner the frame, the more of a statement you’re making.

With George Kebburia’s square frames being faves of some our of biggest stars, Rihanna and Solange, how can you go wrong? For a more unique and edgier take on the sunglass trend, Geroge Kebburia’s rectangular silhouettes have that vintage vibe that makes these pieces seem timeless.

Roberi and Fraud have owned this trend by being the masters of thin, matrix encouraged eyewear. Inspired by their parent’s 90’s frame, the brand rose to fame on Instagram and has literally, taken our feeds by storm.
