Spotlight On: Wallpaper

With the promise of more drama and pizzazz than paint, wallpaper is a fun way to transform a room and reflect your personal style without breaking the bank. Also, as opposed to paint, it’s available in a seemingly unending variety of colors, patterns, and textures. Depending on what you choose, it can be either big and bold or soft and subtle.

What’s really interesting is that it’s not just for the walls these days. The returning trend of wallpaper doesn’t need to be exclusive to one surface.

We’ve rounded up plenty of ways you can use wallpaper, especially if you are only looking to add a pop of color and pattern to your home.

In the living room

Wallpapering a key piece of furniture. This is an especially great way to upcycle an old piece that you love but that has seen better days. Go for wood or brick-effect wallpaper for an on-trend “trompe l’oeil” look.

In the bedroom

You can create a faux headboard or even cover a plain wooden one.

In the kitchen

You can go all out and wrap the kitchen island:

The kitchen walls (because tiles aren’t your only option)

Or if you’re looking to cover a smaller area you can place wallpaper on the back wall of each cabinet! This will instantly create a stunning backdrop for whatever is placed in the cabinets.

And why not even wallpapering the staircase?

This is very unexpected and can turn out to be very eye-catching.

There are tons of different places that sell wallpaper in Dubai. My favorite is Paper Pop:

Their collection consists of a diverse range of both illustrative and photographic styles with a focus on flora and fauna, Scandinavian and minimalist design, children’s art, typography and patterns.  What’s really amazing is that they can also send a team to your house for a hassle-free installation (trust me it can get a bit tricky if you try to do it by yourself…)
