The era of the preppy influencer is gone, say goodbye to the perfect men bodies, the abs, the full suited looks, the shiny white shoes, the clean look. It’s dead, over, thrown out the window.
With the emergence of new designers with a more humble, edgy approach it was only natural that the social media industry also shifted to highlight artists, comedians, musicians and fashion influencers that do not fit the stereotype.
At this year’s MFW we saw influencers that are different, they look more rugged, more real, their content isn’t only about posing in a new outfit, it’s about their work, their sense of humor, their interactions with everyday life.
They are also changing the world of fashion and are being noticed by the biggest brands and working with them more closely; notice the front row and you will see a difference, more artists, entrepreneurs, and Vloggers.
One of the influencers we are currently obsessed it is @Warchieff, Mohamad Abu Hamdan is a well-known figure in Saudi with a quarter of the Kingdom following him on Instagram.
He is an accomplished football player and comedian that can make the best of any situation and is extremely powerful at linking the aesthetics of our region with the pieces from international brands.

Case in point is that post in the Fendi tracksuit with all the Middle East cliché feature with the Arabic rug, the Karak carafe, and the stereo, it makes Fendi look like part of the natural background, it blends in perfectly and makes the whole image worthy of a billboard ad.
One can also see how different he portrays Men’s Fashion Week with his Louis Vuitton kite that was part of the invitation to the show. Instead of filming the show look by look like anyone could, Mohamed set out to the park with his friends and built the kite and tried to fly it (successfully as well)

He started MFW with the most epic post of breaking boundaries and proving that fashion brings people together like him a young Arab Man holding the hand of an old French man from below his balcony.
Think of it as a modern Romeo and Juliet where it’s about a different type of love and a lot more of tolerance.
Mohamed Al Chndy who is also the artist behind the Islamic Pizza can also dress fashionably, look at him mixing humor and luxury fashion with the ultimate jet pack.
We also love his Jackson Pollock inspired denim jeans and how he matched his jacket with the jet-pack on his bag.
Always drenched in his silver rings wearing the most fashionable jacket in Paris and holding a Baguette.
Iconic.
The photographer, stylist, art director genius always knows how to portray a certain image in order to get the most out of it.

And he can also pull off a classic Louis Vuitton bag like the Speedy Nano; Mohamed wears black pants and a shirt with a cameo top under and tucks the bag as a belt around his waist and honestly, I cannot wait to do the same with mine.
We welcome this era of change and diversity in the sometimes stuck up world of fashion as it makes it look more fun and accessible to all.
