Best Places to Get Chai Karak

On a night-time errand run? Treat yourself for that late-night work and grab a chai Karak on your way home – come on, you deserve it! Roughly translated, Karak chai means ‘strong tea’. Karak Chai is made with black loose tea leaves, crushed cardamom, saffron, and sugar, but the key ingredient for the color and taste of Karak Tea is actually made with evaporated milk. Did you know you could get this soothingly yummy drink for only up to 5dhs at any of your local cafeterias? Don’t worry, we’ve made the job easier for you and lined up our favorites – check them out below!

Al Ijaza Cafeteria

Made popular by the Emirati film “City of Life,” Al Ijaza cafeteria serves some of the best chai Karak out there! This one is a little more on the expensive side for a cafeteria due to its prominence in the region, but you can never drive by this place without it being packed with cars lined up down the side of Jumeirah Beach Road to get their orders taken – that should tell you something!

Al Rabbash Tea

If you live in the Al Mamzar area – and you have a sweet tooth – this cafeteria is a must-try. Located not too far from the Al Mamzar Corniche, this tea shack is absolutely perfect if you’re with a couple of friends and want a grab-and-go to sit by the water at night. Not only do they have regular Chai Karak, but they make it in different flavors – a customer favorite being the ‘Rabbash Special’ that has melted Galaxy chocolate in it. How delicious!

Koukh Al Shay

With several branches located around Dubai, this Karak place is definitely one of our favorites! Don’t forget to grab a snack or a quick bite to eat while you wait for your Karak to cool down. From Al Mamzar to Al Karama, to Al Warqa in more. Search up the closest location of this café to you and head right down to it!
