Currently Coveting: Damn Girl Mascara by Too Faced

If you’re anything like us you see a new mascara launch and you’re wondering, is this actually going to be my magic potion/wand? And the answer is usually not, but when you know that this mascara hails from the same creators who brought Better Than Love to our lives, one becomes a little more curious and the desire to get your wand wigglin’ takes over. So naturally, we got REALLY excited when we saw that Too Faced dropped their Damn Girl Mascara.

Choosing a mascara

When you walk down the beauty aisle it’s somewhat overwhelming – length, volume, fluttery, curling, separating, fiber-filled, real bristles, silicon ones, curved, straight, hourglass, rekindles old flames… OK OK, that was too far but you get my drift. The deepest part of you wants to try it but then you don’t want to part with your hard-earned dirhams if it doesn’t deliver, but how would you know unless you buy (because please, please don’t try the testers in beauty stores… more on that later). You also feel a pang of guilt (if you’re like us) because your makeup drawer is a mascara graveyard and is filled with empty promises and old has-beens that you never quite got around to finishing because they never truly did the job for ya. All we can say is that we tried.

Now I’m a gal who loves makeup (obvs) but for work, I like to keep it fairly simple because I’m not a morning person… So I like to have my skin looking fresh and my lashes looking long to help brighten and open my peepers. Even more so during Summer because everything sweats off anyway, so TBH what’s the freaking point.

Why we love Damn Girl

Now for the blue sky after that horrible tragedy – cue stage left, Damn Girl. One day I whilst taking a long romantic stroll down the Sephora makeup aisle, I decided to branch out and give a new baby a whirl. I saved it for a very special occasion, a girl’s night out and honey, lemme tell you the compliments I got. Walking into the bathroom alone was an ego-boost like no other.

Inside the little geometric bottle from heaven, inside Damn Girl is a magic wand that turned out to love my lashes more than I even do (and that’s a lot). The brush is THICK and coated in a delish moussey product. I was a bit dubious at first, but it went on like a champ and gave my lashes a totally natural look and feel. If Princess Jasmine could have picked a mascara, I’d dare say it would be this one.

If you’re wondering what to compare it to, just remember that Better Than Love would be Damn Girls cute but younger little sister. Damn Girl’s here for biz y’all. I’m a convert.
