In the Flick of Time

If you’re like me and always in a rush in the morning, the idea of trying to apply a winged eyeliner is a total challenge. That was until I came up with these top tips and must have products that will make your liners easy to apply and last the distance, no matter what your day holds.

Tip 1: Don’t beat yourself up. They don’t have to look like twins, but they are supposed to look like sisters. (Sometimes mine turn out like second cousins twice removed!) So if at first you don’t succeed, practice, practice, practice!

Tip 2: Start with your liner first. This is so you don’t have to wipe away all your efforts if you make a mistake and have finished with your foundation, concealer, baking and contouring!

Tip 3: Once ready to go, I recommend using a light eyeshadow base and a natural coloured shadow in your crease to really create depth, making that liner POP!

Tip 4: Once done with the shadow, lightly dust some translucent powder over your lids – this is essential, especially if you have oily skin or even slightly hooded eyes to stop the liner from transferring.

Tip 5: If you’re new to wearing a winged liner I recommend placing small dots along the lid of your eye marking out the shape of the line, wing and finishing point. This is a super helpful to make sure they are as symmetrical as possible and makes it much easier to draw since you’re just connecting the dots.

Tip 6: If this seems like way too much effort and you just want to live your best life as quickly as possible, try the trusted tape method. Do this by applying a small amount of tape to the corner of your eye which will act as your guide when drawing the wing.

Tip 7: Mistakes are bound to happen so when they do, don’t stress. Breakout your trusty Q tips, make up remover and concealer which will make those little errors disappear in the flick of time.

Now, on to my favourite products!

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

For me, this is the holy grail of liners – a long lasting formula, a firm tip made up of hundreds of individual bristles, really easy to use and allows for ultimate precision and control.

MAC Liquidlast Liner

This liquid liner does not budge so would recommend pairing this with a good eye makeup remover when you’re ready to take the day off. It also comes in a range of colours for those wanting to express themselves even more!

Rimmel Exaggerate Eyeliner

Great for those on a budget. A super long-lasting formula and easy to use applicator meaning you’ll always end up with that tres-chic look.
