Cher And Dionne // Clueless

Talk about an iconic pair of besties in film! This movie is smart, fun, and incredibly tongue-in-cheek. It also stands up to watching again years later. In fact, you’ll probably appreciate it all the more now. Cher and Dionne are beautiful, rich, and maybe just a tiny bit shallow. But, they’re also complex characters that show real growth over the course of the film, and the often hilarious situations they find themselves in. Through it all, the two share a fierce bond that shows the importance of having someone who understands you and accepts you, even when they don’t always agree with you.

Napoleon and Pedro // Napoleon Dynamite

Napoleon Dynamite moon boot danced his way into theaters in 1994. It’s an oddball film, and it’s incredible. All the characters in this flick are quirky and fun. Napoleon and Pedro are two socially awkward people who make quite the dynamic duo. Sometimes, it’s all about finding a kindred soul. These two make for one hilarious pair of besties that show being outsiders isn’t all that bad. Sometimes, you just need someone to share your tots with.

Parker Wilson and Hachi // Hachi

Who says all besties have to be human? Hachi is up there as one of the best stories of friendship of all time. Parker Wilson discovers Hachi, an adorable little dog, at a train station one day. The two soon become fast friend, and it’s a friendship that endures even when tragedy strikes. It’s also based on a true story. It’s such an incredible story of love and friendship, that a bronze statue of Hachi actually exists in front of the Shibuya train station in his honor. Have tissues ready.

Andy Dufresne and Red // The Shawshank Redemption

While some might think of this movie as simply nothing more than a great escape film, it’s the friendship between the characters of Andy Dufresne and Red that really gives it heart. After spending 19 years in jail together, the two form an incredible bond that has an amazing payoff. You’ll be cheering this pair on the whole time, and the ending will leave you smiling.

C.C. and Hillary // Beaches

It would be easy to overlook this cult classic from the 80’s. Many might dismiss it as just a chick-flick. However, while it does tend to unleash a rather savage assault on your emotions, it is a powerful story about friendship. The besties in question here meet while their families are on vacation at the beach. They come from very different worlds, but their friendship endures for over 30 years after their chance encounter. It’s a great movie that shows the ups and downs that sometimes come with a friendship that lasts a lifetime.
