Life Changing Travel Experiences

If you love travel, and feel like you’re part gypsy, you know that travel has a way of changing you for the better. Travel is, in fact, scientifically proven to be good for you. Studies have shown that it helps to lower stress, increase happiness, ease depression, and boost brain health. Aside from all that, it helps expand our minds, as we open ourselves up to new cultures, people, and ways of life. Most of us have a bucket list of destinations to visit and travel experiences that we want to have some day. But what are some of the most life changing travel experiences out there? We just so happen to have a handy list about that.

Join in the Festivities During Holi

Go ahead and mark your calendars now, Holi will fall on March 9th next year. Holi is a Hindu festival that celebrates all things love and color. The bright colors are meant to signify happiness and positivity. Holi is meant to be a time where past transgressions against you are forgiven. People come together as one, and all hard feelings are left behind. It is sometimes referred to as the “festival of love”. There is singing, dancing, music, and holiday foods to enjoy. But, the thing that Holi is perhaps most famous for are the color “fights”.

It is an all out free-for-all. Friends and strangers alike will smear each other with colorful powders, throw water balloons filled with tinted water, and hose people down with water guns. It’s a joyous time and a lot of fun. The good will and positive vibes are completely infectious. The happy smiles on all those colorful faces should tell you everything you need to know. Holi is celebrated predominantly in Nepal and India. Partaking will be one of those travel experiences you never forget.

Do Some Serious Stargazing In Chile

There’s something about gazing up at a night sky full of stars that speaks to us on a whole other level. Maybe it’s the reminder that the universe is so incredibly vast. Maybe it’s the quiet reflection that often comes with it. That gentle reminder that we are a part of the cosmos, and yes, we matter. The quiet and general solitude that comes along with it isn’t half bad either. This travel experience is all about enjoying the beauty in nature, and taking a little time for some introspection.

One of the best places for stargazing in the world is in the Atacama Desert in the South American country of Chile. There are several camping trips available that will take you out where light pollution won’t mar your view. The sky itself seems so big, and the stars so close, that it almost feels like you could reach out and run your hand through them. Unless you’ve been here before, you’ve never seen stars like this.

Go For a Long Train Ride

These days, everyone is in a rush to get somewhere. One of the best travel experiences you can have is living at a different pace. While railroad might not be the most popular form of transportation anymore, it can be one of the most romantic. Travelers swear that taking an extended train ride is one of the best travel experiences you can have because it forces you to slow down and really pay attention to your surroundings. It also gives you incredible views of the countryside that you likely wouldn’t be privy to any other way.

There are some pretty iconic train rides you can take today. The Trans-Siberian Express offers the longest rail trip in the world. You’ll leave from Moscow, passing by gorgeous mountains and lakes. Over the next six days, you’ll get to see just about every type of landscape you could desire. You’ll eventually disembark in Vladivostok. If that seems a bit too long, there’s always the 3-4 day trips offered by the Eastern&Oriental Express. Or, for the traveler who likes to hop on and off, the Vivek Express out of India is for you. The total trip takes about 4 days to complete, but there are 57 stops along the way.
