24 hours in Barcelona

Beaches, mountains, parks, city, food, drinks, music, festivals – This is Barcelona! The capital of Catalunya, this city is bustling with excitement and adventure. From walking through the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter to lazing by the water along Barceloneta, there’s always something to see, something to taste, something to do for everyone at every corner of the city. 24 hours is definitely not enough for such a place but if you’ve got a tight schedule and plan to see more of Spain, we’ve got a few must-sees.

For the gram // The Sagrada Familia

If you find yourself having to choose one main attraction to spend your morning marveling at, Sagrada Familia is the one. Designed by the great Gaudi, this beautiful piece of unfinished architecture draws in roughly 4.5 million (Yes that’s more than the population of Dubai) visitors a year, and for good reason. The awe-inspiring and captivating story behind the basilica and the genius Gaudi will have you question the limitations of the human mind and creativity. A little tip – book online for your entry tickets to avoid having to wait in a queue under the sun!

For the fun // Brunch in the Park

Here’s one for those who aren’t really interested in the touristic aspects of a city and is looking for more of a vibe. Brunch in the Park is Montreal’s Piknic Electronik that takes place on the top Montjuic in Barcelona. An amazing lineup of DJs get people up and early on a Sunday morning for the right reasons. You can never really go wrong with this spot – food, drinks, and good vibes.

For the tummy // La Malandrina

Barcelona has an incredible selection of foods and cuisine that will get you salivating at the idea. One spot we recommend is La Malandrina – a steakhouse first opened up by a family from Uruguay. This place started off small, seating roughly 30 people at a time, but its modest and homemade cooking style has helped them grow and now have expanded into 2 restaurants (albeit right across from each other on the same street) to accommodate the hype!

For the adrenaline rush // Kayaking and snorkeling

If you haven’t been to La Costa Brava, you haven’t fully experienced the true beauty that is Catalonia. One of the best ways to discover the beaches and coves would be by kayaking and snorkeling through the crystal clear waters, taking in the colorful and majestic sea life the coastal shores have to offer. We recommend you check out Excursions Barcelona – all-inclusive outdoor tours and excursions that come with a knowledgeable guide within an intimate group.
