World Tourism day is coming up on September 28th. Many of us are probably dreaming of a getaway right now. But where in the world do the most people flock to? What sights and attractions have the biggest draw that they attract millions of people every year? Some of the places that earn a top spot might surprise you, others might seem like a no-brainer. How many of these most visited places on Earth have you been to?
Say what you will about “Sin City”. It may be a little too flashy and out there for some, but it consistently draws in huge numbers of people. While some flock to this part of Nevada, USA for the gambling and wild night-life, others go to experience the amazing shows and food. In truth, the place can be a bit over-whelming. Walking down the strip is a real exercise in sensory overload. There’s just so much going on. Many of the hotels and casinos are really gorgeous, and well worth touring on their own, even if you don’t sit at a single card table or try your luck at a slot-machine.

There may be taller and more majestic waterfalls than Niagara Falls, but Niagara holds the current top spot as one of the most visited places on Earth. The falls are located on the border of the USA and Canada. The falls considered to be on the American side are known as The Bridal Veil Falls and America Falls. The falls considered to be on the Canadian side are known as The Horseshoe Falls. They really are beautiful, and it’s impressive to not only watch the water but hear the loud roar of the as it cascades. At night, the falls are lit up by colorful spotlights. The falls are gorgeous any time of year, and are even enchanting in winter, if you can stand the cold.

Nothing short of jaw-dropping, Beijing’s Ming Dynasty palace draws in massive numbers. It also just happens to be the largest ancient palace in the world, and has been around since 1420. The complex sprawls across 180 acres and is comprised of some 980 buildings! It has become such a big tourist draw the Forbidden City has begun limiting the number of visitors allowed in per day. Visiting during Chinese festivals and holidays can be tough if you don’t plan in advance, as those days sell out quickly.
