How To: Graphic Liner

Who doesn’t love a good liner look? Being such a versatile makeup product, eyeliner can be used to create a whole host of looks, from the natural all the way to the ultra-dramatic. Whether you’re a fan of color, a classic black or simply looking for a sweep that will enhance your eye shape, there’s no lack of eyeliner trends and designs to choose from.

Leaning more on the intense drama side of the eyeliner scale, we’re loving the trends of a super bold graphic liner. With no end to the bounty of creativity that can be incorporated when going for a graphic liner look, the stage is yours to play around and find a look you’re happy with!

Basically, “graphic liner” is a label that can be given to absolutely any eyeliner look that plays around with shapes, lines and other sharp designs. While a graphic liner is nothing new, we’ve really seen the trend take off since it was spotted on the SS19 catwalks Dior, Dries Van Noten and many more!

Being such a statement look, we have no doubt that the graphic liner trend will continue on into the fall season, so you might want to start perfecting it!

Since it’s such a diverse look, there are no exact steps for achieving a graphic liner, and the good news is that you can let your imagination run wild!  But if you’re looking for a little bit of inspiration to get you started, we’ve put together a few different graphic liner looks you can try out.

1. A la twiggy

Go for a dramatic retro-glam with this twiggy-inspired liner look. Don’t be afraid of the lines below the eye, it might be a different one from what you’re used to but it just SO glamorous.

2. Colored shadow liner

A cut crease shadow look is becoming a staple in the beauty industry. This is the next level of that! Just start out by picking two complementary eyeshadow colors, sweep it on across the lid and then use the second one to cut the crease with a line and right under your lower lash line. To take things to the next level swipe a third, even lighter color above your upper lash line for a dramatic effect

3. Define and triangulate

For a totally wearable graphic liner look, this triangle look is a perfect choice. Just create a cat-eye how you usually would and then extend it further than normal. Then, link the top of the liner to your crease to create a triangle shape. Fill the triangle with a pop of glitter eyeshadow and get ready to glow!
