Hello middle school, it’s us again! The glitter trend showed up last year and it looks like it’s staying put for a while. Let’s be frank, no one’s sad about this because let’s face it, everyone loves a bit of sparkle.
If you’re ready to channel 1990 something Britney and Beyonce, but with a fresh take, keep on reading. If it’s good enough for Marc Jacob’s runway, I’m ready for it. Fortunately, glitter is quite versatile and can be used on lips, lids and cheeks.

This easiest way this look can be achieved is by introducing the glittery colour to your lids. There’s already a bunch of palettes that have metallic or glitter finishes, so why not try something that you’ve already got tucked away in your makeup drawer to see if you like the look? If you’re feeling a little bolder there’s a bunch of loose pigment powders you can call on to achieve the runway ready look.
You can go extreme with this look, you just gotta own it. Use a glitter liner and just go for it. I personally like a thick cat eye glitter liner look because it still looks sleek and intentional but seriously fun. Gold or silver is always a good choice but lilac is my go-to (benefits of freelancing I suppose!). The main thing is to have fun with this.

If you’re thinking whoa, whoa, whoa… this is way too much glitter for my liking, why not dip your toe slowly. To ease in at a slower pace, swipe some glittery hues on your cheekbones so you can have your own subtle nod to the trend whilst getting those cheekbones poppin’ and still being work-appropriate.
But don’t worry, the butterfly clips are still being safely kept in the past for now!
