New Year’s Resolutions: Skincare Edition

With a year full of hardship coming to an end, it is no surprise that people are coming up with their lists of New Year’s resolutions. Whether it be travel-based in light of the new vaccines and governments being more comfortable with travel, fashion for self-expression, dieting, and more – the list goes on and on. For today’s New Year resolution feature, we, at The Modern East, have compiled a list of achievable New Year’s resolutions for your skincare routine. The key is not to achieve the most things, but not to put pressure on yourself so that your resolutions become easy-peasy! Check out our list below.

Exfoliate!

Exfoliation is a process that occurs naturally when the dead epidermis cells (your skin cells) shed to be replaced with the newer cells underneath. Although this process happens naturally, as we age this process becomes less effective, leaving an excess of dead skin cells. Exfoliating products help this natural process, preventing a build-up of dead skin cells and revealing a brighter, more youthful complexion beneath.

Go Green

With all the old and furry products removed (and recycled where possible) from your possession, you’ll need to do a bit of a restock. To guarantee that you won’t be filling up your beauty bag with more products that use chemicals and plastic, so, make the switch to natural, organic beauty instead!

Stay Hydrated

Here’s one of the most well-known healthy skincare habits –– drink more water. As much as we love coffee, even we’ve got to admit that water is the way forward for flawless skin. You should be drinking at least two liters of water a day to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. If you are not a fan of drinking plain water, why not try coconut water, fruit-infused water, or herbal teas. More flavor, more hydration.
