For your pleasures only, I went digging through the endless musical labyrinth that is SoundCloud, and found some unmissable SoundCloud accounts for you to follow. Let it be told that no two musical genres on this list are the same. In fact, they are so widely different that putting them in the same group would make no sense in any other scenario except that these are all products of some amazing Arab talents from around the Middle East.

Whether you’re more of a techno lover, have a nostalgia for the beautiful sound of the Oud or seek music that mixes traditional elements with a modern funk – you’re in for a treat. Here are 5 SoundCloud accounts form the Middle East you need to follow right now.

An icon of the Palestinian underground scene, Sama’ is said to be the first Palestinian DJ and electronic music producer. Her SoundCloud holds a variety of her live sets, tracks and remixes that will speak straight to any techno lovers heart. I’m a lover of the Oud instrument. It’s a sound I have come to rediscover as part of my exploring-the-golden-era-of-Egyptian-music phase, don’t judge me ok. Khyam Allami is one who shares this love and has used it to bring the Oud to the modern age. His SoundCloud is home to some alternative tracks that really show that the Oud still belongs in 2019.

Ouzo

THE VETRAN DJ

Another unmissable account to follow is Adham El Mestekawy, better known as Dj Ouzo, plays everything downtempo, house, and some self-proclaimed “Multicultural Electronic” music. His tracks can be equally easy-going and chill as much as they can make you want to get up and dance. Additionally, with new music posted relatively often – Ouzo’s SoundCloud feed is definitely one you want to keep an eye on.
