DIY Candles you can Make at Home

Ah! Don’t you just love the vibe of lighting a candle? If you do, this is the article for you! Candles have several health benefits from improving performance and health to brightening your mood and relieving anxiety, and even to better your sleep. Instead of going out and buying various expensive candles, why not make your own from ingredients in your own home?

Anti-Anxiety Lavender Candle

Did you know that the relaxing experience of lavender fragrance led to its deliberate, therapeutic use in aromatherapy to relieve mild anxiety? Put it into a candle and relax all day!

How to:

  • Grab a Mason Jar and use a hot glue gun to attach a wick to the bottom
  • Mix corn syrup and water in a bowl
  • Lay a pencil across the top of the jar and tape the wick to it to keep it centered
  • Melt the wax flakes into a pot and pour a Tbsp. of Lavender scent into the mix
  • Add two drops of purple food coloring
  • Pour the wax into the Mason Jar till it is filled to the top
  • Place lavender leaves in the Jar
  • Freeze for 3-4 hours until the wax is solid, light it up, and experience the Zen

Tea Infused Candle

Tea has several health benefits, from antioxidants to weight loss and more. The scent of tea is also commonly used in aromatherapy to play into these ideas and relax the mind. Tea candles are quite beneficial and easy to make.

How to:

  • Place wax chips in a heatproof glass measuring cup.
  • Heat in microwave for 30 seconds; stir.
  • This is optional – but, a fun touch; use a teacup for the candle holder.
  • Lay a pencil across the top of the jar and tape the wick to it to keep it centered
  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil on a stovetop and steep the tea bags until the oil is scented.
  • Stir in a few drops of essential oil if you want to boost the scent
  • Remove the tea-infused oil and melted wax from the heat, then combine both.
  • Slowly pour the melted wax into your glass jar.
  • Allow the candle to solidify and it’s ready to use!

Birthday Cake Aroma Candle

This one’s perfect if you have kids – or if you just like cake! This fun and festive candle look so good you may want to just take a bite.

How to:

  • Grab a Mason Jar and use a hot glue gun to attach a wick to the bottom
  • Mix corn syrup and water in a bowl
  • Coat the inside of the Mason Jar with the mixture using a small paintbrush
  • Hold the jar slanted and add a spoonful of sprinkles and roll the jar around so that they cover all the sides
  • Lay a pencil across the top of the jar and tape the wick to it to keep it centered
  • Melt the wax flakes into a pot
  • Pour the wax into the Mason Jar till it is filled to the top
  • Freeze for 3-4 hours until the wax is solid and you’re ready to start your candle party!
