Let’s make our time at home this Ramadan extra special this year with some arts & crafts and DIY décor to celebrate the month and appreciate the vibes. Here are some ideas that you can try to make your home feel more Ramadan-y and all you need are a few items that you can find in your home!

Moon & Star Cut-out

This is the go-to for your Ramadan decorations! It may seem simple, but the moon actually symbolizes the coming of the holy month as the Islamic year is, in fact, based on the moon rather than the sun. All you need for this is some paper, scissors, and your decorating tools and you can pretty much decorate your moon and star cut-outs however you like. Cut out your shapes, get some markers, colored pencils, and you can even add a touch of glitter glue and get to hanging them up!

DIY Paper Lantern

For this little DIY project, all you need is some paper and decorative ribbon to create cute little lanterns that you can either hang on your walls or place around your house. All you need to do for this is fold your paper into a cylinder shape and cut slender lines all around to create the lantern effect, scrunch it down to create the shape, and finally, glue your decorative ribbon onto the tops and bottoms of the circular shapes of the cylinder you created and voila!

Paper Plate Crafts

For this next craft, you can get as fancy or keep it as simple as you’d like and all you need are a pack of paper plates! Whether you want to paint the whole plate one solid color or unleash your inner artist and imitate Islamic geometric-like patterns, you can do it all. Grab your markers, paint, and glitter glue and get to crafting!

Painted Pillows

The final touch of your Ramadan decorations – pillows! Get into the Ramadan spirit with this fun DIY project. All you need for this is an old throw pillow that you may have stuffed away in a cabinet somewhere and some fabric paint and you have free reign. You can paint a mosque, a moon, and stars, or even a Ramadan related message to celebrate the time of the year. Throw it on your couch or bed and you’re good to go!
