5 ways to keep the family bond alive

As you get older, it can be tough to find ways to stay engaged with parents, siblings and other loved ones and find things that everyone has in common or defines as fun. Things changing is a normal part of growing up and as your relationship changes, it is important to make stronger effort to make sure your family stays tight and that you do not drift apart. Here are 5 things you can do with your family if you are tired of visiting a restaurant for your weekly family outings.

1. Discover the beaches of Dubai

Dubai may be all about that fast-paced city life, but resort to the coast and immerse yourselves in the soft sands of its beaches. Popular destinations, such as Kite Beach or La Mer, provide the public with scenic beach walks alongside restaurants and stores. The perfect way to take heed of a lovely sunny day or even a cool evening. The task is both family-appropriate and provides some activities such as eating, tanning, going for walks, trying your hand at a beach sport, that all can help break the ice when things get a little dry.

2. Explore the Souqs

Almost hidden in the older parts of the city, traditional markets stand proudly still thriving with life. Walk through their halls and be prepared to be pulled into each store to feel a carpet here and to taste some honey there. Experience and witness both the culture and lifestyle of old Dubai as you pass fishing boats to the shouting of bargains being thrown around. If your parents have been around the city for a while, this is a fun way for them to stroll down memory way and tell you some stories from their childhoods and if they are new to Dubai – its a great place to explore together.

3. Enjoy Theme and Water Parks

Sprinkled all across, amusement and water parks can be easily found and accessed. Go ahead and look into IMG Worlds of Adventure, MOTIONGATE Dubai, Legoland, Wild Wadi Waterpark, or even Aquaventure Waterpark. Filled with fun activities, it’s never a boring day out with the family at one of these parks. There is no room for dryness here, if anyone has a sour face, literally – have them hang upside down on a roller coaster. As you get older it can also be really fun to test your parents’ bravery or siblings competitive spirit when it comes to games and rides.

4. Camp Out Under the Stars

Many off-road tourism companies offer the service of taking people out into the desert for an overnight camping experience. If the hustle and bustle of the city become a little harsh on the ears, make the escape to the quiet dunes and enjoy the skies from sunset to sunrise. The dune bashing is always optional, but definitely an exciting way to get to your destination. This is a more peaceful approach and provides plenty to do to keep the interaction going – learn to pitch tents together, roast marshmallows and even play a game or two around the fire.

5. Take up an unexpected Skill together, like Skiing  Indoors!

On a completely different note, if sand won’t do you justice, then head on over to Ski Dubai in Mall of the Emirates to its famous indoor ski park. Games galore, skiing lessons, and even penguins can all be found inside this winter wonderland. We might not get much rain in Dubai, but you can find snow all year round, so chase your dreams of building snowmen even in summer! Learning a new sport, like skiing or snowboarding is not only great for bonding because it puts all of the family in a vulnerable spot to be brave and open to trying something new and intimidating – but also provides for a great laugh when someone takes the inevitable tumble on the slippery slopes.
