1. Egypt

This one will probably come as no surprise, but with 14.7 Million annual visitors in its peak years, the Pyramids of Giza are the most visited place in Egypt. As impressive in real life as they are in history books, the last relic of the 7 ancient wonders of the world continues to fascinate tourists from all over the world. A place you’re likely to find on most people’s bucket list!

2. Lebanon

With around 1.7 Million visitors per year, Beirut takes the crown as the most visited city in Lebanon. Due to the many attractions for tourists in Beirut, ranging from nightlife to cultural locations – the numbers don’t get more specific than that on where exactly visitors flock to in Beirut. One of the most visited areas through is the Jeita Grotto – a breath-taking networks of limestone caves just 18 KM north of Beirut.

3. Jordan

The ancient city of Petra registers as the most-visited city in Jordan with around 600,000 tourists per year. A world-renowned archaeological site that has been in existence since 300BC, makes Petra one of the oldest sites in the world. Dubbed the “Rose City” for its pink sandstone cliffs, Petra is a truly beautiful sight to behold.

4. UAE

Golden jewel of the UAE, Dubai, sees over 15 Million visitors every year – by far the most visited spot in the entire Middle East! The city has SO much to offer, but we’d care to venture that most who come to Dubai take the time to visit the tallest building in the world – the Burj Khalifa. Towering at 828m, getting the entire Burj into one picture is a real challenge, but one we’re willing to accept.

5. Kuwait

As the second largest mall in the Middle East, The Avenues Mall is a major attraction for tourists in Kuwait. Receiving over 24 Million visitors (including local and tourists) per year, the mall boasts a huge 800 stores! Moreover, the mall is set to expand soon, getting even more impressive.

6. Bahrain

Totaling 12.7 million tourists visits in 2017, Bahrain is an attractive destination for Middle Easterners and foreigners alike. After being named the Capital of Arab Culture in 2013, Manama – Bahrain’s largest city – has seen a steady rise in tourism for many years, becoming the most visited city in the country.  The cultural hub is home to many archeologic and architectural masterpieces, like the Al-Fatih Mosque and Qal’at al-Bahrain.

With a huge 19 Million visitors each year, Mecca is undoubtedly the most visited place in Saudi Arabia. Religious pilgrimage constitutes a more than large majority in the county’s tourism numbers, which sees a consistent annual influx of pilgrims every year for Hajj. However, Riyadh also sees a notable number of yearly visitors, placing as the 3rd most visited city in the Middle East after Dubai and Mecca.

8. Oman

A growing travel destination in the Middle East, Oman attracted over 3 million visitors in 2017. While the majority of these were headed to Muscat or other major cities, Oman presents a promising future as a nature and adventure destination. Scattered with beautiful nature and wildlife spots, the might soon come to overtake the urban tourism.

9. Iran

A hub of ancient culture and tradition, Tehran is a must-visit. With over 5 million tourists in 2017, more and more foreigners are flocking to the city every year. Similar to Saudi , the most popular form of tourism in Iraq is Religious tourism.
