When you find yourself suffocating in the Dubai summer, there is one (surprisingly close) place you can head to…Fujairah! While the temperature is only 4 or so degrees cooler, the really attractive thing about Fujairah is that its beach doesn’t share the same lukewarm temperature that Dubai’s water has. Dare we say, the water is even pleasant?! A couple of weeks ago, at peak Dubai heat, we flocked to one of the prime spots in Fujairah, Snoopy Island and specifically to Sandy Beach Resort. Here’s what we thought of the experience.
Sandy Beach Resort is the ideal place to go if you’re looking to disconnect from the busy city life. The drive up itself is a peaceful one, weaving through high mountains – a refreshing change from the urban Dubai landscape. If your focus is to chill by the beach or pool and bask in the sun, then this is the spot for you. Since there is not much to do in Fujairah itself e wouldn’t recommend heading here if a poppin’ nightlife is what you’re after.

If you go with three or four people, what’s great is that you can stay in a small 2-bedroom chalet with your entire group. That’s what we did! The chalets are nothing too fancy but come with a small kitchen, bathroom, a cute little living room and a terrace facing the beach. Maybe because we went during off-season, but the resort was pleasantly empty and quiet – so hanging out on the terrace was perfect for relaxing.

The relatively small resort has a surprising amount of facilities including an infinity pool, a smaller pool, a great private beach, a restaurant, a lounge and even massage tables on the beach itself – just to name a few. Much to our dismay, the infinity pool was under maintenance while we were there. That being said, for our purposes, the cool waters of the Arabian Sea were more than enough.

Snoopy Island is actually one of the prime spots along the coast of Fujairah and is known especially for snorkeling. Along the beach of the resort, you’ll find a perfect hut providing all sorts of snorkeling and water activity gear to fully enjoy the underwater beauty. For somewhere that’s only 2 hours away from Dubai, Sandy Beach Resort really is a beautiful escape!
