Scariest Rides in the World

While we might all love going on rides at theme parks and the like, thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies among us are always seeking the latest and greatest way to get their kicks. These are the types that would look at a roller coaster that might leave most shaking in their boots, and simply scoff. To them, that ride is kiddie stuff. Thankfully, for those who fall into the category of the uber thrill seeker, there are some pretty terrifying rides in the world. Here are some of the scariest rides out there, that you’d likely have to pay us large sums of money to get us to go on.

You may have gone on rides that spin, and rides that swing. You have may have even been on rides that turn you upside-down. But have you ever been on a ride that does all three? This is the case with this scary ride located at Dinosaur Park in China. Riders get strapped and buckled into one of the 40 seats this behemoth has. At the start of the ride, thrill seekers will enjoy an almost gentle back and forth swinging motion, paired with a counterclockwise turn. But soon, that pendulum motion seems to go into hyper-drive. Riders find themselves hurdling and spinning through the air at speeds of up to 110 km/h. It all culminates in finding oneself upside-down, almost 45 meters in the air. If you can’t make it to China, fear not. Other versions of this ride can be found at several theme parks around the world.

Insanity // Las Vegas USA

Only in Vegas. This scary thrill ride is aptly named, as you must be suffering from insanity if you actually plan to get on it. The Stratosphere is an iconic part of the Las Vegas strip. Views from its observation decks are stunning, especially at night when the little town in the middle of the desert absolutely twinkles. But, if the thrill of rolling the dice and trying your luck cards wasn’t enough for you, this ride is sure to make your heart skip a few beats. From a dizzying over 274 meters up, you’ll then be extended out around around 19.5 meters from the safety of the ledge of the Stratosphere. You’ll then get spun around at speeds over 64 km/h as you look down at the view below you. If you have a problem with heights, this isn’t the ride for you.

Sky Roller // Denmark

However, sometimes, we’re our own worst enemy. This scary ride, located in Denmark, goes a long way to proving that. If the feeling of not being in control gives you some anxiety when it comes to thrilling rides, this one puts you in the driver’s seat. While the ride lifts you what seems like an unreasonable and totally unnecessary height above the ground, and spins you of course, the rest is up to you. Want to do some inversions? Spin upside-down quickly at least 4 dozen times before the ride ends, maybe? It’s totally up to you. One of the scariest things about this ride is the fact that sometimes your brain screams at you to do one thing, but your hands aren’t quite up to the task. And oh yeah, you’re pretty much completely out in the open.
