Glamping, we keep hearing about it, but what is it exactly? Glamping is the new and improved version of camping – and if we’re being honest, once you’ve tried glam, there’s no going back.

Forget packing extra flashlights, pitching your tent or unrolling your sleeping bags – to make sure all your camping essentials are in check, glamping is the new camping activity that will require zero effort from your end.

This experience will give you all the feelings of “camping,” minus all the dirty work with just a little bit of glam and luxury…because why not, we’re in the UAE after all! Get in the mood with the glamping gadgets. 

Where we went

We decided to give it a chance and opted for the Long Beach Campground retreat: a camping retreat right in the middle of RAK.

Just an hour away from the city, the retreat will provide you with everything you need for camping.

The campground is at the beachfront location and it features fully furnished deluxe bell tents, family tents, safari suite tents and panoramic dome suite tents which are modern versions of a traditional old tent.

We opted for the authentic deluxe tent – equipped with comfortable mattresses, complete bed set and, two outdoor camp chairs.

The tent’s fabric is suitable for the country’s weather with waterproof, UV rays and wind resistant materials, which was perfect considering the rain we had at our arrival.

The Facilities

Once the rain stopped, we spent the rest of the day by the pool, had a bbq dinner on the beach, attended a pottery class, watched a movie on the floating bridge (they had popcorn btw!!) and roasted some marshmallows by the huge bonfire before going to sleep.

The next day, we attended the sunrise yoga class, had a nice breakfast by the beach, spent a few hours by the pool and got a quick archery lesson before heading back to Dubai.

There were plenty of other activities that we couldn’t fit in our schedule, including beach volleyball, kite flying, stand up paddle, sea view aerobics and kayak racing. There’s also an outdoor spa and sauna!

FYI – all of these activities are included in the price of your night!

Tip: it’s perfect for families with younger kids – they have PLENTY of activities to keep the young ones entertained (kids stretching, egg hunting, giant Jenga, petting zoo, pony riding, etc…)
