We could all use a little more positivity in our day. Surprisingly, achieving this is pretty simple. You just need to add a few easy steps to your day to keep those positive vibes rolling.
Whatever was bothering you today, forget about it tomorrow. Know that the past is in the past and you can’t change it. Stressing won’t help, dwelling won’t help and overthinking certainly won’t help. Take a moment every night to let go of whatever is bothering you and start the next day fresh.
What do you want to achieve from the day? How can you prepare for that? Maybe put together an achievable to-do list or you can even get your outfit ready! Just make sure you take a few minutes to mentally organize the next day.
We’re all guilty of this. Wake up. Check social media. Well, don’t do it. Starting your day by comparing your life to others is a horrible thing to do for your positivity levels. Let go of this habit and try to be more present in your own life, especially as soon as you wake up. While you’re at it, try using your phone less throughout the day too!
How will I fill in those minutes I usually spend scrolling Instagram, you ask? Try meditating! If you don’t know how to get started, check YouTube for a guided meditation video. There are tons out there. Beginning your day by being present, in the moment and clear your mind sets you out for the best day possible.
Regardless of whether you drive, take the train, walk or even hop on a boat to get where you need to be, put on a playlist of your favorite feel-good songs. Play music that makes you happy and the positivity will follow!
Have you ever heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? Well it’s true. Why not indulge a little and treat yourself to a breakfast of kings in the morning. If you’re not a breakfast person, do the same thing but for lunch… I’ll allow it.
You know that warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you receive a compliment? That’s practically universal. Having a positive day is also about spreading positivity to your surroundings and the people around you. Make someone’s day and pay them a compliment, you have nothing to lose.
Show off those pearly whites! Smiling more has been proven to elevate your mood, whether you feel like it or not at first. Smile at your family, friends, or even strangers – you’ll automatically start to feel happier.
Feeling like you’ve accomplished nothing with your day can definitely be a bummer. Stay focused on your tasks and get what you need to do done. (hence the to-do list from the night before)
End your day on a positive note by writing down 3 happy moments of that day. What little things made you smile? An encounter, maybe a funny situation, or even your meal of the day! Remembering the good things paints your day more positively and continues your good vibes outlook up until the moment you fall asleep.
